Yesterday was one of those great Northern California days. Not a cloud in the bright blue sky and nice brisk air. Given that, the girls and I took off with one of Mikayla's friends, Francesca and her dad Albert and headed to the hills. We had conceived the idea the day before and as I tend to do, I may have not been truly honest with Albert on the length and height of our planned hike.

The trail we took on was Cataract Trail above Alpine Lake in Marin. Alpine Lake is fed by a stream with an abundance of waterfalls and this time of the year, the water is flowing freely. The girls were all troopers as we took off on the journey. We all started a bit cold, but by the end of the first flight of steps, we were all warm. There was plenty of support for the girlson the way up as many folks cheered their spunk for taking on the climb. Of course Albert and I pulled out the ultimate motivation and promised milkshakes and ice cream at the end of the hike. As for Albert and I, the prospect of a nice tall margarita and a warm shower got us through!
