San Miquel Vacation

Okay, so vacation might be a bit of a stretch, but we did take a couple of days to cruise into the heart of the Central Coast. Mikayla's class (and evidently every 4th grader in California) is studying the California Missions and they each have to write a report about one of them. Mikayla was given the Mission San Miguel Arcangel. So, off we went Saturday afternoon after all the softball games to San Miguel. Now those of you who have driven past or through San Miguel know it's not the best place to stay. So we were able to get the last room at the Parkfield Inn. Parkfield could be a story in itself. It's the earthquake capital of California, with lots of research happening there.

In Parkfield we got in just in time for the last rack of ribs off the BBQ and a late dinner. Mikayla and I were up early to walk the town and see some horeses getting fed. After breakfast it was off the the San Miguel mission to get some history. Turns out the mission needs a $15million upgrade and there's no access. So we walked the perimeter of the main church to get it's history.
